Planting your seed paper

Welcome to our guide on how to grow your seed paper and transform your key card into a beautiful chilli plant.

Step One: Soak in water for 24-48 hours

Fill a shallow container with water at room temperature. Carefully place the seed paper into the water, ensuring it is completely submerged. Alow the seed paper soak for 24 to 48 hours, giving the seeds time to absorb water and initiate the germination process.

Step Two: Transfer to a pot with compost, water regularly

After soaking, prepare a pot with well-draining compost or potting soil. Carefully place the soaked seed paper on the surface of the compost, gently pressing it in to ensure good contact with the soil. Water the pot regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not overly wet. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can leave the seed paper in water until the seeds begin to sprout, then transfer it to the compost.

Step Three: Keep in a warm place (very important!) with natural light

Place the pot in a warm spot with plenty of natural light, like a sunny windowsill or inside a greenhouse. Keep the temperature consistently warm, which is essential for seed germination. Aim for a temperature between 18°C and 24°C (65°F and 75°F). Ensure there is sufficient ventilation to avoid mold growth, particularly in humid environments. Regularly check the soil moisture, ensuring it stays damp but never fully dries out. However, take care not to overwater, as this may cause rot or fungal problems.

Step Four: Enjoy your blooms

As the seeds germinate and grow, continue to provide care by watering as needed and ensuring they receive sufficient light. Over time, the seedlings will develop into mature plants and eventually bloom, providing a beautiful chilli plant.
